(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors are considering projects to improve county roads but the issue is how to pay for them. At Tuesday’s meeting, Guthrie County Engineer Jason Sebern presented a five year construction plan for county roads and bridges that need attention. One project that was going to receive federal funds through Congressman Zach Nunn’s office was the repairs of White Pole Road but it fell through. Construction on P28 is another high priority project but it is not eligible for federal funds. So Sebern says there are two options moving forward

Audio PlayerSupervisor Brian Johnson says they still need to see if federal funds are available. Sebern also went through multiple bridges that need to be addressed over the next five years — most that can be paid through federal funds. Supervisor Chair Maggie Armstrong said that they will take action on the five year plan next week.
The Supervisors did pass a Noxious Weed Control Resolution — Sebern says there is a major infestation of thistles and other weeds. The Supervisors also passed a resolution to appoint full time sheriff deputies, clerks, dispatchers and jailers.
