Atlantic Tennis Finds Its Swing Ahead of Full Slate of Matches

(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys’ and girls’ tennis teams are gearing up for a week of competition after strong showings last week. Both squads bounced back well following a tough loss to Shenandoah, one of the top teams in the conference, on Monday.

They responded with solid performances, starting with Glenwood on Tuesday. Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott praised his players’ resilience, saying they could “bounce back.”

The week ended with a double-dual meet against St. Albert and Southwest Valley.

The boys’ team narrowly lost to St. Albert in a 5-4 battle, McDermott described as competitive.

Both teams finished the day with wins over Southwest Valley. McDermott noted the continued progress, saying the teams are “improving daily.”

Looking ahead, Atlantic faces Denison-Schleswig on Tuesday. The girls’ team will host their home tournament on Wednesday. Both teams head to Clarinda on Thursday, and the boys will round out the week by hosting the Trojan Invitational on Saturday.
