(Audubon, IA) — When Isaac Jackson was a freshman at Audubon High School, he was the number four player on the tennis team. However, something clicked and he beat the #1 player and moved up in the line up. He has been the full time#1 player for the Wheelers ever since his Sophomore season and he has led Audubon to a 3-1 start in their duals competition this season. Jackson is extra motivated to play this season — he missed going to the state tournament last year with a narrow loss in districts
Audio PlayerThe roster is not real big for Audubon boys tennis — there is only 8 guys playing this year but there is a good blend of experience and youth and Jackson is anxious to see what they can do as a team competing against bigger schools
Audio PlayerJackson developed his passion for tennis from his older brother Dennis — the other thing he learned from his brother was playing Dungeons & Dragons which he says he plays almost every day with his friends. In fact, he hopes to turn his hobby into his career
Audio PlayerJackson says Buena Vista has talked to him about playing college tennis but he is leaning towards going to the University of Nebraska and play club tennis. Before that happens though, there is the goal of going to state this year and he says there is something he needs to work on to make that happen
Audio PlayerAudubon beat Harlan on Thursday night 7-1 with Jackson winning in singles 8-0 and in doubles with Carson Matthews won 8-2. Next up for the Wheelers, they play at Southwest Valley next Tuesday.
