Vikings Sternberg Shatters His Own School Record in the 400

(Avoca, IA) — Last year, AHSTW’s Luke Sternberg set a new school record in the 400 but on Thursday night in Council Bluffs, he not only broke but shattered it. Sternberg ran the 400 in 49.27 seconds which is the fastest in Class 1A this season and tied for 7th fastest in the state. Sternberg says he wasn’t expecting to run so fast

Sternberg will make the field in the Drake Relays in the 400 — they take 16 entries and Sternberg ranks 7th (the official field will be announced sometime on Saturday). Sternberg says that making the field at the Drake Relays was a priority

The 400 will be Friday evening April 25 at 5:46 pm on the blue oval — Sternberg says he will use the race to prepare himself for the state meet since the top three runners in Class 1A including himself will be there. With qualifying for Drake now out of the way, Sternberg will turn his focus to other events

Sternberg and AHSTW will be at the CAM Classic at Atlantic High School on Tuesday, then next Thursday at Sidney.
