(Clarinda) The northern part of Page County has received damage from a tornado that came through Thursday evening. Thankfully, Essex did not take a direct hit, according to the post on the Page County Emergency Management Facebook Page.
According to the press release, trees have been damaged around town, and several private structures have suffered substantial damage in the surrounding area. Law enforcement is requesting that you avoid the area. Please use extreme caution if you reside here due to several power lines down and debris blocking roads. They ask the public to give authorities time to assess the damage and remove debris.
Pierce Creek has also received tree damage, so please avoid that area. Crews from the Essex Fire Department and Page County Sheriff checked on residents in the impacted area. No injuries or fatalities have been reported at this time.
Teams will be doing damage assessments.
