(Des Moines) The National Weather Service has announced the possibility of scattered severe storms on Thursday. Meteorologist Roger Vachalek emphasized that large hail is the main concern.

Audio PlayerIn southwest Iowa, there is a 5 to 15 percent chance of severe thunderstorms developing late tonight into Thursday, primarily posing a risk of large hail and gusty winds. Furthermore, late Thursday afternoon through the evening will see additional thunderstorm chances, with a 15-30% likelihood of severe storms, particularly between 5 PM and 10 PM. While large hail remains the primary threat, there is also a possibility of damaging wind gusts, and the potential for a tornado cannot be ruled out.
