(Atlantic, Iowa) The Community Protection Committee of Atlantic will meet today in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The committee’s agenda includes reviewing and discussing potential recommendations for the City Council regarding speed control changes at the intersection of 29th and Palm Streets.
The options on the table include:
– Establishing a 4-way stop at the intersection.
– Lowering the speed limit from 50 mph to 35 mph in the 900 block of 29th Street to the 700 block of W. 29th.
– Reducing the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph from 700 W. 29th to the intersection of Chestnut Street.
– Installing a “Slow Down – Children Playing” sign on the south side of Palm Street at 29th Street.
– Lowering the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph at the intersection of Chestnut and 29th Streets, specifically for the south side of 29th and extending to the southern city limits of Atlantic.
The meeting starts at 4:45 p.m. prior to the regular City Council meeting, which starts at 5:30 p.m.
