(Carroll Co) Two people were killed and one other was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Carroll County Monday evening.
The Iowa State Patrol says a John Deere Tractor, driven by 51-year-old Troy Bluml of Carroll, was eastbound on 220th Street, near Hawthorne Avenue, at approximately 10:30 p.m. and did not stop at a stop sign. The tractor struck the driver’s side of a northbound 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 17-year-old Elvin Ariel Murillo Castro of Carroll. Following the collision, Bluml left the scene. He was later found at his residence and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death.
Elvin Ariel Murillo Castro and rear-seat passenger, 56-year-old Pedro Castro of Carroll, were pronounced deceased at the scene. 24-year-old Carlos Castro of Carroll, a front seat passenger, was transported by helicopter to Unity Point in Des Moines with critical injuries.
