(Harlan) Lewis Central dominated the boys’ Ken Carstens Invitational Track Meet in Harlan on Tuesday, winning five events, placing second in two others, and capturing the team title with 131 points in the 11-team field.
Evan Lille led the way for the Titans, claiming gold in both the 800 meters (2:04.83) and the 3200 meters (9:49.06). Kevin Coots earned the top spot in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:31.17, while Kyler McNeal launched the discus 152-03 to secure another win. The Titans also captured gold in the Distance Medley with a time of 3:47.72. Their runner-up finishes came in the 4×100 relay (43.87) and from Jackson Cox in the 1600 meters (4:37.20).
Treynor finished second overall with 113 points, highlighted by five first-place finishes and three second-place performances. Cauy Konz sprinted to victory in the 100 meters (10.92), and Brady Wallace impressed in the 110-meter high hurdles (13.89), just shy of his state-best mark. The Cardinals also won the 4×100 (43.16), Shuttle Hurdle Relay (58.87), and 4×200 (1:33.04). Second-place finishes came from Jude Mieska in the 400 hurdles (58.97), Riley Lauver in the high jump (6-00.00), and Jeff Sornson in the 100 meters (11.06).
Underwood secured third place with 86 points, thanks to three event wins and three second-place finishes. Tayden Hull led the charge with a win in the 400 hurdles (56.61), while the Sprint Medley (1:37.51) and 4×400 relay (3:32.51) also claimed gold. The Eagles earned runner-up spots in the Shuttle Hurdle (1:01.71), Ryker Adair in the shot put (49-00.00), and Riley Sealock in the 400 meters (51.32).
Woodbine placed fourth with 81.33 points. The Tigers were led by Landon Blum, who won the long jump with a leap of 20-05.50. They added four second-place finishes: the 4×200 (1:33.17) and 4×400 relays (3:34.24), Owen Wingert in the 800 meters (2:06.05), and Evan Estrada in the 3200 meters (10:39.38).
Atlantic rounded out the top five with 73 points. Gavin McLaren led the Trojans with a winning toss of 51-11.00 in the shot put. Atlantic also picked up second-place finishes in the discus Xavier Darrow, (142-05), the 800 Sprint Medley (1:39.55), and the 4×800 relay (8:44.16). Other strong performances included Preston Williams taking third in the 400 meters (53.32) and Darrow placing third in the shot put (48-05.00).
Notables:
Red Oak’s 4×800 meter relay team topped the field with a time of (8:43.97.) Cale Hall showed his ability in the sprints with a second place finish in the 200 meters in (22.98), and third in the 100 meters in (11.20). Emmanuel Grass finished third in the 1600 meters in a time of (4:41.90).
Council Bluffs, Thomas Jefferson sprinter Nathan Anderson raced to the wire with first place finishes in the 200 meters, (22.86), and 400 meters in (50.45).
