Lamp is Lighting Up the Track This Year for Lady Vikes

(Avoca, IA) — AHSTW Girls Track and Field Head Coach Traye Pelzer says she is a head turner.  When Bella Lamp is on the track, everybody’s head turns in her direction because she is likely to be at the front of the pack putting on a show.  Last Thursday at the Lady Vikes home meet, Lamp got four first place finishes in four events.  In the 400 Hurdles, she put up a season best time of 1:06.59 — that ranks 9th in the entire state right now and would put her into the field at the Drake Relays.  Not bad for a Sophomore who’s been running the event for just over a year

She will have two more chances to improve on that time with the deadline to enter into the Drake Relays this Friday morning.  Lamp says getting there was not on her radar when the season started

Lamp also got a season best time in the 400 last Thursday but has a ways to go to catch the top runners in that event.  Lamp anchors the 4×400 relay and anchors the Sprint Medley relay and she says they have come close to doing something at state — she hopes this year will be different

As far as her love of track, Lamp just loves it

AHSTW will be at Griswold on Tuesday and Tri Center on Thursday this week.
