(Van Meter, IA) — AC/GC and CAM were two of the smaller schools competing in a track and field meet Thursday night in Van Meter but both schools had some solid performances.
AC/GC Girls: Ava Campbell won the 800 with a season best time of 2:21.04; she was 2nd in the 1500 and anchored the Distance Medley relay team to a first place finish with Nora Langgard, Lillie Lauzon, and Cadence Petersen at 4:30.43
AC/GC Boys: Three relay wins for the Chargers: the 4×100 equaled their best time of 44.14 with Joe Crawford, Brexton Schneider, Dean Vela and Eli Madsen. The 4×400 got a season best time of 3:32.78 with Tate Fever, Vela, Taion Noland, and Luke Brincks. The Shuttle Hurdle team got a season best time of 1:02.50 with Jathan South, Morgun Nolte, Fever, and Schneider. The 4×200 relay got a season PR and finished 2nd with Vela, Crawford, Noland, and Fever. Mike Fuller won the Discus at 143-11 and was 2nd in the shot put. Schneider was 2nd in the 110 Hurdles and 3rd in the 100 with season PRs in both. Brinks was 2nd in the 200 with season PR.
CAM Girls: Ada Hansen ran a 1:08.09 and was first in the 400 Hurdles but still has not achieved the blue oval standard. As of this writing, she ranks 6th in the state so still looks good at making the field at the Drake Relays. Hansen was also 2nd in the 800 with a season best time of 2:23.19. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team was 2nd but got a season PR by about a second at 1:12.24 with Hansen, Brookelynn Steffen, Bailey Lillard and Ruthie Rich. Finally, Courtney Folmann won the Discus at 112-01.
CAM Boys: Carson McKee won the 400 Hurdles with a season best time of 58.48, McKee was also 4th in the 100. Kegan Croghan was 2nd in the 400 Hurdles behind McKee with a season PR of 59.22. Kayden Winther was 3rd in the High Jump and 4th in the 200.
