(Harney Conyt, Oregon) The Harney County, Oregon, Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday evening that it has officially suspended the active search and rescue efforts for 29-year-old Kaylee Birt, a Shenandoah, Iowa native who has been missing since April 4.
Kaylee was last seen at The Fields Station in Harney County, Oregon, while en route from Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Shenandoah, Iowa.
Despite extensive search efforts over the past six days, no significant evidence has been found to pinpoint Kaylee’s whereabouts. As of 5:00 PM on April 10, the Sheriff’s Office has suspended all active operations.
“While the active search has ended, Kaylee Birt remains listed as a missing person in our system,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “We are not giving up. We ask the public to stay alert.”
Authorities plan to install signage near Kaylee’s last known location to alert visitors and encourage them to report any potential evidence they may come across. The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to call them at 541-573-6156.
