Bowers Making a Statement for Tigers Track and Field

(Griswold, IA) — Last year at this time, Connor Bowers was sitting at home enjoying the spring season. This year he is making noise in the High Jump and closing in on the Griswold school record. On Tuesday night, Bowers jumped 6 feet 7 inches to achieve the Drake Relays blue oval standard and qualify automatically for the meet. Going into last Tuesday’s meet, his best jump was 5 feet 6 inches so he has improved by a foot and 2 inches in one week. Head Coach Andy Everett says he has found his rhythm

In an interview with KSOM last week, Bowers attributes his success to his coaches but Everett says he’s really self coached.

Everett says he cleared 6-07 with space to give so he believes he can go even higher — the Griswold school record is 6-08.

Also on Tuesday night, Holden Jensen got wins in the 1 mile and 2 mile and Everett says he almost brought the Distance Medley team back for a win
