(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board held a public hearing on the 2025-2026 School Calendar Wednesday evening.
Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen announced that the first day of school will be Monday, August 25. The goal is to conclude the school year before Memorial Day weekend, on Friday, May 22. She explained that the district needs to include 177 student days and 190 teacher workdays to meet the requirement of 1,080 hours of student instruction. There will be a winter break from December 23 through January 2, and spring break will be split into separate periods.

The Atlantic School Board approved the 2025-26 MOU with Green Hills AEA, the Educational Agreement with Iowa Western Community College, 2025-26 Timberline Billing Services Annual Agreement for Medicaid and Addendum, the Sponsorships for Industrial Tech Club, District Career Academic Plan, and the Graduating Class of 2025.
