Wolverines Winkelmann Has a Love of Long Distance Running

(Greenfield, IA) — When it comes to running races, the longer it is, the better Gabe Winkelmann of Nodaway Valley is.  The Freshman immediately stood out in the fall for the Wolverines — he made it to state in cross country and he says the transition from the shorter distances in junior high was easy because he preferred the longer distance in high school  For track, Winkelmann runs all the long distance races — the 800, 1600 (1 mile) and the 3200 (2 mile).  He says he approaches each race differently

Running seems to run in the Winkelmann family — his aunt is Megan Winkelman won the state title in the two and a half mile in 2002 and 2003.

Winkelmann is so dedicated to running that he found a way to do it this past winter

Winkelmann says his main goal is to break 10 minutes in the 3200 and break 4:40 in the mile.  He says this week could be a big week

Nodaway Valley’s home meet was cancelled last night but the Wolverines added Panorama tonight and then go to Woodward Granger on Thursday.
