(Lenox, IA) — Lenox is the boys champ at their own meet; the girls results were incomplete with two events outstanding but Fremont Mills was well ahead by over 100 points over CAM and Stanton which were in 2nd place.
Griswold Boys: Connor Bowers continues to push the bar in the High Jump. A week ago, the best he had jumped in his career was 5-06. Last Tuesday, he jumped 5-10. Last Thursday, he went to 6-03. On Tuesday night Bowers continued his ascent by jumping 6-07 — that puts him in a tie for 4th place in the entire state — it also meets the Drake Relays blue oval standard and puts him into the meet. Holden Jensen was a double winner for the Tigers, winning the 1 mile (5:04.43) and 2 mile (11:02.11). Peyton Cook was 2nd in the 110 Hurdles and 3rd in the 400 Hurdles. Griswold was 2nd in the shuttle hurdle, distance medley and 4×400 relays.
CAM Girls: Ada Hansen won the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:05.72 but she is still short of the blue oval standard. Hansen was also 2nd in the 100 Hurdles and anchored the sprint medley relay to a win at 1:57.57 along with Brookelyn Steffen, Bailey Lillard and Ruthie Rich. Rich won the 100 meter dash at 13.13 seconds and the Cougars were second in the 4×200 relay.
CAM Boys: Kayden Winther was third in the long jump; Ethan Chaney was 4th in the 3200; Carson McKee was 4th in the 100 and 4th in the 400 Hurdles. The Cougars were third in the Distance Medley relay.
Southwest Valley Girls: Mackenzie Richards was third in the shot put.
Southwest Valley Boys: The Timberwolves won the 4×100 relay with Wyatt Shires, Brady Crozier, Gavin Wetzel and Wyatt Mendenhall with a time of 46.56 seconds. Crozier was 2nd in the 100; Wetzel was 3rd in the High Jump; Theron Mullen was 3rd in the shot put; Mendenhall was 2nd in the 400 Hurdles and 3rd in the 400. The T-Wolves were 2nd in the 4×800 relay
Other girls highlights: Fremont Mills had 8 first places (Hannah Wilson in the 800 and 3200; Lana Alley in the 100 hurdles and 200; Carlie Chambers in the High Jump; and the 4×800, shuttle hurdle and distance medley relays). Alexi Perkins of Bedford won the shot put and they won won the 4×200 and 4×400 relays. Maria long of East Union took first in the 400 and Laurne Johnson of Stanton was first in the Long Jump and Stanton won the 4×100 relay. Results were posted for the 1500 and McKayla Nichols of Bedford was the winner.
Other boys highlights: Gabe Funk of Lenox was a three time winner in the 110 Hurdles, 400 Hurdles and 400. Lenox also won the 4×400 and 4×800 relays. Morgan Cooley of East Union won the shot. brogan Ewing of SE Warren won the 100. Fremont Mills won the Distance Medley. Ambrose Savage of Lamoni won the discus. Bedford won the Sprint Medley and Shuttle Hurdle relays and Kase Coleman won the Long Jump.
