(Red Oak, IA) — The Atlantic Boys Track and Field get their 2nd meet win in a row as they beat the field at Red Oak on Tuesday night. The Griswold girls team finishes in 3rd place against teams in a higher classification.
For the Trojans, the highlight was the throws as Xavier Darrow set a new PR in the discus at 142-06.5 which exceeded his best by 18 feet. Darrow was also 2nd in the shot put to Gavin McLaren who finished first at 49-07. McLaren was 2nd to Darrow in the discus but got a PR with a throw of 137-08.75.
Atlantic was also first in the 4×800 relay with Mason Betts, Sawyer Tarrell, Preston Williams and Colin Rudy running a time of 8;55.89. The shuttle hurdle team (Grant Petty, Jaxon Hepler, Zander Killion, and Shelton Mualia) finished in 2nd place but put up a season best time of 1:05.12, reducing their time by 2 seconds. The 4×200 relay finished 2nd and also got a season best time of 1:35.69 with Killion, Ashton Rutherford, Jarrett Hansen and Ethan McNeal. Atlantic was also 2nd in the 4×100 and 4×400 and 3rd in the sprint medley relay.
Mualia won the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.64 seconds. Other top finishers included Ethan McNeal 2nd in the 200 (PR at 23.18); Preston Williams was 2nd in the 800 (2:08.86); Jaxon Hepler 2nd in the 400 Hurdles (1:00.77); Sawyer Tarrell 3rd in the 400 Hurdles (1:00.97); Vincent Meisinger was 3rd in the 800 (2:15.43) and 4th in the 1600; Landon Hagen 3rd in the 400 (56.82) and Luke Irlmeier was 3rd in the 3200 (11:28.01)
Other boys highlights: Shenandoah had four wins (Cole Graham 400, Hunter Swaink 400 Hurdles and Sprint Medley and 4×400 relays). Red Oak had 7 wins (Cale Hall 100; Emmanuel Grass 1600; Bryce Williams 3200; Reese Montgomery 800; Brayden Sifford 200; Shuttle Hurdle; 4×100). Clarinda had three wins (Cooper Baumgart High Jump; Nolan Wagoner Long Jump; 4×200 relay).
On the girls side, Griswold’s Carsyn Adams was a double winner, taking the 400 Hurdles at 1:12.80 and anchoring the shuttle hurdle relay with Rain Laverty, Bristol Wyman and Addison Adams with a time of 1:11.14. Carsyn Adams was also 2nd in the 100 Hurdles and 2nd in the 400. Addison Adams was 3rd in the 200 and 4th in the 400 and 400 Hurdles. Airika Palmer finished 4th in the High Jump.
