High Winds Knock out Power to AMU Customers

(Atlantic) High winds caused power outages to around 300 AMU customers in downtown Atlantic early Wednesday morning. AMU General Manager Steve Tjepkes says there were two main outages at 4:13 a.m., one involving around 100 residents on Olive Street.

Tjepkes says the other outage occurred downtown, affecting around 200 businesses and residential customers.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Des Moines reported a 50-mile-per-hour wind gust just after midnight at the Atlantic Municipal Airport.
