(Anita, IA) — There is one big question coming into this spring sports season — can Chase Jahde win a state championship in golf? Last year at state, Jahde finished one under (-1) but Keith Thompson of Hamburg was one stroke better at two under (-2) to win it. Looking back, was it one putt, one drive, one iron? CAM Head Coach Joe Wollum says Jahde’s game is so balanced you can’t pinpoint one thing or the other except he has an advantage in the mental game
Behind Jahde is Coby Venteicher who is getting better and better every day says Wollum
Wollum says CAM is deep and will have competition from #3 to #8 with Austin Eblen, Braxton Dennis, Madden Cary, Chase Spieker, Makade Paulsen and Creighton Kinzie all in the mix. The Cougars made it to state two years ago but last year just missed out on going. This year’s team has a good chance of making a return trip to state says Wollum especially since they expanded the qualifiers in each district from two to three.
On the girls side, numbers have improved with seven out for golf. The top two players are back for CAM says Wollum
Others in the line up include Kesley Pratt, Brooklyn Zimmerline, Nadia South will dual sport with soccer, Gracie Venteicher will dual sport with track, and Mailin Schluesseelberg. CAM opens both girls and boys seasons on Tuesday, April 1 in Avoca with a triangular against AHSTW and Exira EHK.
