(Griswold) Griswold is considering establishing its own girls’ wrestling team. The Griswold School Board discussed the possibility at last week’s meeting.
For the past two seasons, Griswold has shared a girls’ wrestling program with Red Oak. While the arrangement has been beneficial, shared superintendent Dave Henrichs noted that interest in wrestling among Griswold student-athletes is growing.
Audio PlayerHenrichs recommended forming a committee to evaluate the advantages and challenges of creating an independent program. The committee will present its findings to the board in May, offering a recommendation on whether to continue the partnership with Red Oak or launch a separate program.
The committee includes current and former wrestling coaches, community members involved in the youth wrestling program, interested student-athletes, and Griswold athletic director Mr. Cooper.
