(Ft. Dodge, IA) — Harlan alum Cade Sears has been the everyday center fielder for Iowa Central Community College and has helped lead the Tritons to a 22-6 record in the first half of their season.
Sears has been hitting in the two spot in the batting order and so far has a .270 batting average with 1 HR and 18 RBI. He leads the team with stolen bases with 14 in 15 attempts. Sears also has 29 walks, 25 strikeouts, 5 doubles, 1 triple, has scored 30 runs which is 2nd on the team, has a .405 slugging percentage and a .518 on base percentage.
When Sears graduated Harlan, his first choice was to play football at South Dakota St. but after getting up to Aberdeen and going through practices and meetings, he realized that baseball was his real love. So he pivoted and found a home at Iowa Central CC.
In his first ever game with the Tritons, Sears went 4 for 6 with a double and RBI in a 10-1 win over Southwestern. On February 28, Sears went 3 for 4 with 3 runs and 2 doubles in a 17-7 win over Century College.
In the ICCAC (Iowa Community College Athletic Conference), Iowa Central is 6-2 and in 4th place. The Tritons took 2 out of 3 from Indian Hills this weekend winning 16-3 on Friday and splitting a DH on Saturday, winning 8-3 and losing 12-6.
Iowa Central will visit Iowa Lakes on Wednesday, April 2nd for a doubleheader.
