Washington County Crash Claims the Life of a Teenage Driver

(Washington County, Iowa) One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Washington County.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Highway 1 near the 64-mile marker at around 4:10 p.m. on Thursday. Authorities say 18-year-old Alaina H. McNurlen of Keota died in the crash.

According to the report, McNurlen was driving a northbound 2004 Saturn Ion, crossed the centerline into the southbound lane, swerved back into the northbound lane, overcorrected, and lost control. The Car crossed the centerline, entered the ditch, and rolled. McNurlen was ejected from the car.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.
