(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC Boys Track and Field has had a strong tradition in recent years of good numbers and strong relays. This year seems no different. There are 41 boys out for track and field this season so Head Coach Cody Matthewson will have plenty of options for his relays. Last year, AC/GC got five relays to the state meet but the shuttle hurdle did not make it through with a disqualification. Matthewson says that this year’s shuttle team has something to prove
Audio PlayerLast year, the 4×100 finished 9th and missed the finals by .06 seconds; the 4×200 finished 3rd, the 4×400 was 3rd and the 4×800 was 12th. Matthewson says they haven’t run the 4×200 yet but the 4×100 and 4×400 are taking shape
Audio PlayerIn the field events, AC/GC will have to replace last year’s 1A State Champion in the High Jump Lance Bunde but Mike Fuller is back after finishing 2nd place in the discus and Senior Mason Wohl will join him in the throws and Matthewson says they both just need to peak at the right time
