Wolverines Boys Track and Field Has Improved Numbers

(Greenfield, IA) — While Nodaway Valley girls track only has 9 athletes this year, Head Coach Brett Welsch has almost double that for the Boys Track and Field team. 17 Wolverines are out this spring and Welsch is hoping to get more to the blue oval than just Trent Warner who last year was 5th in the shot and 10th in the discus

Welsch has a group of young guys — sophomores and freshmen — that will strong runners this year

State Wrestling Champ Junior Ashton Honnold and another wrestler Junior Keyin Steeve are both out for track and will compete in the sprints. Welsch wants to target the 4×800 and Distance Medley relays and would really like to put together a 4×200 team. Warner leads the field events with Cassius Burnside in the long jump and Honnold will do some throwing when he is not competing in off-season wrestling programs. Overall, Welsch just wants his kids to show improvement
