(Carroll, IA) — The Glenwood Rams dominated the first outdoor meet of the season with 8 co-ed teams competing at the Carroll Tigers track.
Harlan’s girls finished 2nd behind Glenwood with four overall wins — Lindsey Sonderman won the 1500 with a time of 4:48.34; she anchored the Distance Medley Relay to a win along with Abby Broekelman, Ellerie Nielsen and Allie Anderson with a time of 4:33.40. Jaylee Schmitz won the 100 hurdles at 17:66 and Aspen Bieker won the 400 at 1:06.09.
Other top finishers for the Cyclone girls included: the 4×800 finished 2nd place with Bieker, Brylee Schechinger, Sadie Alberti and Sonderman. Broeckelman was 2nd in the 400 hurdles. Ashlyn Rau was 2nd in the 1500 and 2nd in the 800. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay was 3rd. Alberti 4th in the 3000. Ava Freund 4th in the 3000.
For the boys, the only win was Jeffrey Gross in the 3200 with a time of 10:32.71; Gross was also 3rd in the 1600. The 4×100 team which set a state meet record last year has been totally retooled this year thanks to graduation — Ayden Redmon, Jozef Reisz, Landon Nilsen and Hagen Sorensen finished 2nd behind Glenwood. Erik Heslink was 2nd in the 3200 behind Gross with a time of 11:06.20. The Sprint Medley Relay was 2nd with Redmon, Nilsen, Sorensen and Sam Shields. Shields finished third in the 200 meter dash.
Harlan also had third place finishes in the Distance Medley and 4×200 and Reisz was 4th in the discus. Results are below
