(Atlantic) The Nishna Valley YMCA and the Healthy Cass County Coalition are thrilled to announce their upcoming “Healthy Kids” event on April 5th from 9 AM to 12 PM at the YMCA in Atlantic.
Kayce Anstey, YMCA Events and Volunteer Coordinator, said each child will receive a teddy bear to take through a “Mini Hospital”.
Audio PlayerKids will also have passports to encourage them to visit every station, and those who complete the passport will receive a healthy smoothie at the end.
Attendees will participate in hands-on activities at themed stations including:
-Teddy Bear Mini Hospital – Bring your teddy bear in for a special Bear Check-Up.
-Teddy Bear Immunization Room – Kids can bring their teddy bears in for pretend shots and learn about vaccinations.
-Teddy Bear Eye Check-Up – Take a closer look at eye health with engaging activities.
-Mental Wellness Space – Take a moment to reset and recharge with yoga and other wellness activities.
-Obstacle Course – Get moving with fun challenges that build strength and coordination.
-Healthy Snacks – Taste a variety of nutritious and delicious snacks with take-home recipes!
-Smile Science – Watch an elephant toothpaste experiment and receive i-Smile goodies.
Anstey said this event is free to both members and non-members of the Nishna Valley YMCA, made possible by the generous sponsorship of Cass Health.
Audio PlayerSeveral community organizations will be in attendance to promote healthy eating and active living, including Cass Health, Public Health, Cass County Iowa State Extension and Outreach, A Community for Kids, i-Smile, Eye Associates, Cass County Libraries, ZION Integrated Behavioral Health Services, and many more dedicated community volunteers.
Additionally, families will have access to information on summer camps and activities throughout Cass County, to keep kids active and engaged during the summer months.
