(Avoca, IA) — There be small numbers for the AHSTW Boys Track and Field team this year but there is quality. Head Coach Jackson Renberg says there are only 15 guys coming out this season so the primary focus will be on individual events. Senior Luke Sternberg made it to state in 200 and 400 a year ago and got a 5th place medal in the 200 dash and Renberg says Sternberg looks good to start this season
Audio PlayerSternberg is one of three seniors for the Vikings — Caden Geraghty is a mid distance runner who has cut off his time in the 800 and will also run the mile plus Jett Peterson is a Simpson College signee for track and field in the throws and Renberg says he has high goals this year after missing all of last year
Audio PlayerJunior Collin Harder is back after finishing 16th in the one mile a year ago and will running both long distance races. Despite the low numbers, Renberg will put together a 4×800 relay team that finished 19th at state a year ago and has three members back — Geraghty, Harder, and Chase Wheatley who has to shake off some early injury issues. Overall, Renberg wants his boys to continue to cut times
