Petersen to Coach Audubon Exira EHK Softball Team Which are Back Together for This Summer

(Elk Horn, IA) — After much debate in the last months, Audubon and Exira EHK will stay together in softball for this season and this week Exira EHK Athletic Director Tom Petersen was named the team’s head coach.  Last year, the team went to the 2A State Tournament and finished in 2nd place.  Head Coach Andrea Schwery has since taken the softball head coaching position at IKM Manning.  Now the former baseball coach with the Spartans will coach a new sport and Petersen says it will be an adjustment

Last season was the first where Audubon and Exira EHK played together in the sport and when the new school year started, it was not clear whether the sharing agreement would remain in place.  Petersen says there is mutual benefits for the unified team to continue

The chemistry was strong with the softball team last year and Petersen says that the groundwork has been laid to have success again this season

Petersen will have to replace six senior starters from last year’s team but returns All State Pitcher Riley Miller in the circle.
