(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors received an update on Minden’s recovery from Bethany Wilcoxon, a Senior Advisor with McClure.
Minden was struck by an EF3 tornado on April 26, 2024.
Wilcoxon highlighted that Minden was awarded a Community Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery from IEDA, totaling just shy of $1.2 million. Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs is collaborating with Cook Construction and Remodeling from Neola on a $2 million project.
Wilcoxon said they also secured $10,000 from MidAmerican Energy to plant trees and build a natural playscape at the park on the east side of town.
And, the Emergency Catalyst program from the state is moving forward.
Wilcoxon noted that they continue to work on the water distribution system improvement project and she mentioned the temporary development moratorium remains in place for downtown.
Wilcoxon said they are pushing as much as they can to get things built back in Minden.
At then end of Wilcoxon’s report, the Supervisors approved a letter of support for the Minden Meat Market.
