(Elk Horn) The Exira/EHK School Board voted 6-1 on Monday to go to a four-day school week starting in the 2025-2026 school year. During the discussion portion, eight people voiced their opinions on the issue, with seven for the switch and one against going to four days per week.
Exira/EHK Shared Schools Superintendent Trevor Miller began looking at options to retain and hire quality teachers.
Miller says students will attend classes Tuesday through Friday.
Miller says they will be working on ways to provide daycare opportunities for those needing it on Mondays.
In other business, the school board approved a 4.6 percent salary package increase for the certified staff and a $1.00 per hour increase for non-certified staff. Additionally, the board approved a three percent package salary increase for principals, a 4-percent salary increase for the shared School Business Officer and HR, and a two percent package increase for the shared Superintendent.
