(Audubon, IA) — Last year, Audubon had three relays that qualified for the state tournament and Head Coach Tony Konkler is hoping for something similar or even better this year. The 4×400 finished 12th at state, the shuttle hurdle was 13th with three runners returning and the sprint medley just missed the medal stand in 9th and again three are returning. Konkler says he has 21 runners with a lot of experience returning
You are only allowed two entries per individual event in varsity track and field so Konkler admits that there will be competition as the 7 throwers gets whittled down but he does say he has a clear number one right now
As for the relays, Audubon is losing last year’s anchor Ezekiel Konkler to graduation but Head Coach Tony Konkler says that he likes the look of Freshman Aiden Kjergaard to fill that spot and has other options as well
Audubon opens up their outdoor season by hosting the Early Bird meet next Monday.
