(Harlan, IA) — They know how to run long distances in Harlan — the Cyclones Girls Track and Field team will have some strong runners in the mid to upper distances this season. Last year, Lindsey Sonderman finished high on the medal stand in two races — third in the 1500 and 4th in the 3000. This year, Head Coach Jenny Hamilton says she will shooting higher in her senior season
Hamilton says that Sonderman already broke her personal record in the 3000 at an indoor meet so she is off to a fast start. There are three other seniors on the Cyclone roster
Last year, Harlan’s only relay that made it to state was the Distance Medley which finished in 17th place. Hamilton says that and the 4×800 should be filled out but she also says its too early to tell which relays will be strongest. Junior Paige Sonderman will be a utility runner that can go anywhere in the line up and Hamilton is high on Sophomore Aubree Wegner who is just starting to work on the high jump
Harlan will open their outdoor season on Thursday, March 27 at Carroll
