(Des Moines) The second blizzard of the month will sweep through Iowa early Wednesday morning. Brad Small with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says the system will start as rain and change to snow, with the heaviest snow in northern Iowa.
Small says the storm will pass through the Missouri River Valley Tuesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will precede the snowfall.
Small says gusty winds will last throughout Wednesday and cause snow to blow and drift into the evening hours. He expects wind gusts as high as 50 miles per hour during the day, diminishing to 30-40 miles per hour by mid-evening and 20-25 mph overnight.
