(Audubon, IA) — Audubon is competing in girls track and field this season with Exira EHK so once again they will be up in classification to Class 2A. Head Coach Laeni Christensen says it was an adjustment for the girls after largely competing in a 1A conference. The Wheelers will have 17 girls on the squad this year which is smaller than other 2A teams but Christensen says they will make it work — she says her team is strongest in the mid distance
Last year, Audubon sent their distance medley and 4×400 relays to state — they finished 16th and 21st respectively — but Christensen says its hard to tell what relays will emerge this season
In the sprints, Jaelynn Petersen and some younger girls will be competing. In the hurdles, Brooklyn Snider, Katelyn Dreher, Taryn Petersen and Jaelynn Petersen could form a shuttle hurdle team but nothing is decided yet says Christensen. In the field events, the throwers are young and developing, Jaelynn has experience in the high jump and the only senior on the team is Emily Foren who competes in the long jump
The first outdoor meet for Audubon will the early bird meet they host on Monday, March 31
