(Harlan/Creston) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is holding public meetings to discuss upcoming alum treatments to improve water quality in Prairie Rose Lake and Green Valley Lake.
The public meeting for Green Valley Lake is March 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room (Room 124) in the Performing Arts Center Building.
The public meeting for Prairie Rose Lake is March 27th at 5:30 p.m. at the Harlan Public Library.
The DNR will present an overview of proposed treatments to reduce harmful algae blooms in the lakes. Alum (aluminum sulfate) is a nontoxic substance used to lower phosphorus levels, a key driver of algae growth.
