(Ames) A 22-year-old has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred in February in Ames.
Maliek Dut was arrested and faced charges on Tuesday for first-degree robbery and attempted murder linked to the shooting of a 19-year-old victim, who fortunately survived the incident. Dut is accused of being the shooter in what authorities believe was a planned robbery involving another suspect, who has not yet been named. The suspects reportedly arranged to meet the victim for a drug deal on February 27th.
The investigation by the Ames Police Department is ongoing, with no further arrests made at this time.
According to the victim’s account to the police on February 27th, he was shot by two males around 1 a.m. in the 2500 block of Jensen Avenue, located just northeast of Ace Hardware at the intersection of 24th Street and Jensen, near an apartment complex.
