Casey Joe McClain, the son of Terry Douglas and Pamela Sue (Walker) McClain, was born October 21, 1975 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Casey passed away on February 15, 2025, at his home in Roland, Iowa, at the age of 49 years, 3 months, and 25 days.
Casey grew up on farms around Macedonia. He enjoyed his life on the farm, and learned how to take care of animals. He had bottle calves, pigs, cats and the family dog, Elmer. He learned how to work and learned responsibility as he grew up on the farm. When he was nine years old, his sister Ashley was born.
In school, Casey excelled in music (he loved to play his trumpet, the tuba, and other instruments.) He also excelled in speech and vocal music. A highlight of his high school career was his portrayal of Captain Von Trapp in the musical, “Sound of Music.” His sister Ashley played the youngest daughter of the Captain, so Casey carried Ashley up the mountain to escape the Nazi’s to end the show. Casey also played “Taps” for many graveside services of veterans with the American Legion.
After high school, Casey worked at various jobs in Oakland, Macedonia and surrounding towns. In the year 2000, Casey enrolled for classes at Iowa State University. He enjoyed his college days, becoming a devoted Cyclones fan for the rest of his life. He was also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. Casey graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in May of 2004.
After undertaking other jobs in the area, Casey established his own swimming pool maintenance company, Aqua Touch.
On October 18, 2014, he was united in marriage to NiCole Hammer in Ames, Iowa. From this union 2 daughters were born, Nora Grace and Nell Louise. Casey absolutely adored his daughters and was a devoted father.
He became interested in becoming a nurse, so he took the courses and on September 18, 2023, he graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Iowa.
Casey was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela, grandparents Shirley and Bernard Walker, James and Connie McClain, and Uncle Douglas Walker.
He is survived by his daughters Nora and Nell McClain, their mother NiCole McClain, his father Terry McClain and wife Gladys, sister Ashley Evans and husband Randy, and nieces Lily, Clara and Ava. Casey is also survived by Aunt Peggy (Lyle) Bentley, Aunt Patsy (Rod Teegarden) Walker, Aunt Penny (Mitch) Anderson, Uncle Jeff (Mikey) Walker, Aunt Donna McClain and Aunt Carol “Zip” (Jim) Byriel.
