(Williamsburg, IA) — With the 2024 election in the rear view mirror, the race for 2026 has begun. Kim Reynolds term as Iowa Governor will expire in the 2026 election and she has not yet announced whether she will run again. If she does, she will face a challenger in a Republican primary. Brad Sherman, a former Iowa state legislator and current pastor from Williamsburg, Iowa, announced his candidacy for Governor last week.
Sherman told KSOM and KS 95 that he had made up his mind to run and he didn’t keep it a secret from Reynolds
One hot issue in the state is education. President Donald Trump – who Sherman has supported – has said he wants to get rid of the federal Department of Education and let the states take over. Sherman says that Iowa’s education system needs some work before that happens
As for the Iowa economy, the biggest thing that the governor and government can do is to stay out of the way but there is one big issue he wants to address is that is a reduction of property taxes
Sherman is currently working on fundraising and will be starting a 99 county tour soon.
