Next up for the Spartans is a regional final, with a trip to the state basketball tournament on the line. Coach Petersen is impressed with Treynor’s athleticism. He notes that all five can attack the basket and shoot the three-point shot.

As Coach Petersen mentioned, Treynor has had a successful season with a lot of youth on the squad. Treynor Head Coach Joe Chapman says they knew in the off-season there would be some holes to fill with just one senior on the roster.
Chapman says this year’s squad is probably his deepest as far as shooters go, which he says puts a lot of pressure on defenses, both man and zone. When it comes to matching up Exira/EHK, Coach Chapman says they came on strong in the second half of the season. He credits some of that to Jaelyn Petersen’s return to the squad. Chapman describes the Spartans as a dangerous team.
Taryn Petersen leads the Spartans in scoring, averaging 22.55 points per game, and Jaelyn Petersen, 11.56 points per game. Treynor is led by Nora Konz, who scores 14.74 points per game, and Addison Mauer, who averages 10.32 points per outing.
The game tips off at 7:00 p.m. Coverage on KS95.7 F.M. The pregame starts at 6:35.
