(Des Moines) The Iowa House passed House File 180 regarding increased penalties for grooming.
Iowa House District 18 Representative Tom Moore said last session, Iowa House Republicans led the effort to define Grooming in Iowa code; Grooming became a Class D felony.
Tom Moore said HF 180 builds upon the legislation from last session by requiring anyone convicted of grooming to be added to the Tier I sex offender list for 10 years. He said this additional monitoring of individuals who have been convicted of this predatory behavior may help prevent additional abuse.
