(Cherokee) Atlantic travels to Cherokee tonight with a trip to the Class 3A State Tournament on the line. The Braves enter the game with a record of 20-3, and Atlantic is 18-6.
In regional play, Cherokee, Washington is coming off wins over Greene County, 67-13, and Kuemper, Catholic, 68-45. Atlantic topped Clarinda, 51-35, and Harlan, 52-40.
Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason says rebounding is a big key to the Trojans’ success in post-season play. Not to mention, the Trojans’ shooting percentage isn’t too shabby.

Cherokee, Washington, is next for the Trojans. The Braves are a familiar foe, having defeated the Trojans in Regional play in 2021 and again in a Regional semi-final one year ago. Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason says Cherokee is one of the top shooting teams in Class 3A.
The Trojans have their offensive threats. Paytn Harter is averaging 16.92 points per game and shooting 66.4 percent from the field and 36 percent from behind the three-point line. Zoey Kirchhoff is averaging 8.35 points per contest and shooting 31.1 percent from behind the three-point line.
The Braves average 62 points per game—atlantic averages 53.79.
