(Oakland) Tonight, Riverside will host CAM in a Class 1A Regional Semi-final. The Bulldogs come into the game with an impressive 19-3 record, while the Cougars sit at 13-10. Riverside’s Head Coach, Mark Jeppesen, credits the team’s successful season to its strong defensive play.
The Bulldogs have displayed a well-rounded offensive effort throughout the season. Sydney Somers is leading the scoring for Riverside, who averages 8.57 points per game. Kayden Schnack at 7.86 follows her, Sophia Taylor with 7.10, Sophia Fenner at 6.50, and Adaline Martens contributing 3.05 points per game.
Additionally, Ryleigh Ewalt provides solid scoring off the bench, averaging 5.09 points. These two squads previously clashed in a non-conference match on January 23, where Riverside emerged victorious with a score of 56-48. However, Coach Jeppesen notes that CAM has evolved since that encounter.
CAM enters the game on a high note after defeating Woodbine 68-57 in the quarterfinals, making up for two earlier losses to their Rolling Valley rival. A standout performance was delivered by Maddie Richter, who scored 37 points on 13-20 shooting, including 6-11 from three-point range. The Cougars also have a strong supporting cast, with Ada Hansen averaging 10.30 points and key contributions from Krista James, Ruthie Rich, and rapidly improving Ailey Wahlert.
CAM Head Coach Joe Woolum acknowledges the challenge posed by the Bulldogs’ defense and offensively balanced scoring.
He emphasizes that the game’s outcome will hinge on who can win the rebounding battle, minimize turnovers, restrict points allowed in the second half, and eliminate Riverside’s easy layups.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tonight, with pre-game coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. Tune in to 95.7 F.M. for all the action!
