(Des Moines, IA) Governor Kim Reynolds may run for a third term as Iowa’s chief executive.
When reporters asked her on Tuesday at the State Capitol, Reynolds said, “Stay tuned; there might be news coming,” but she didn’t elaborate.
The Republican has been governor since 2017 when she took over for Terry Branstad. She became Iowa’s first female governor and won two successive terms.
Reynolds will have a primary challenger if she decides to run. Earlier this week, former Iowa lawmaker Brad Sherman announced his candidacy for the office. The Williamsburg Pastor will hold an official launch event in Mason City this Saturday.
Sherman’s main priorities will be “encouraging fiscal responsibility, promoting family values, and returning government to the foundational principles that made America great.”
