(Iowa) Alliant Energy awarded nearly $134,000 in grants to 32 Iowa communities through its Community Tree Planting program, part of the One Million Trees initiative. The program, in partnership with Trees Forever, helps communities plant and care for a diverse mix of trees, enhancing tree restoration, energy efficiency, and environmental benefits.
Since 1990, the partnership has planted over 1.1 million trees and awarded more than $8 million in grants across Iowa and Wisconsin. Communities can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to fund tree-planting projects.
Here in southwest Iowa, Atlantic was awarded $2,840 to plant 22 trees and Creston was awarded $5,000 to plant 22 trees.
