(Elliott) Firefighters from the Red Oak, Elliott, and Grant Fire Departments were dispatched to 2015 137th Street on Wednesday at 2:22 p.m. for a reported structure fire.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says Upon arrival, firefighters found a steel utility building fully engulfed in flames, with the roof already collapsed. Defensive fire operations were initiated, and the fire was controlled by 3:15 p.m. Fireground operations concluded around 4:00 p.m.
No injuries were reported among firefighters or civilians. Unfortunately, a few livestock animals inside the structure perished.
Fire crews performed exceptionally well despite the freezing temperatures.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The building and its contents are considered a total loss, with the estimated property damage yet to be determined.
