(Griswold) The City of Griswold plans a housing development project, and the school district can partner with Iowa Western Community College to help students work toward a construction management certificate. Griswold High School Principal Seth Lempke reports that after several productive meetings, he has identified a potential funding source for a spec house that the students can help build. The aim is to eventually sell the house.
Lempke notes that the only obstacle to launching the program is the need for an instructor. The requirements for teaching the course include an associate’s degree in construction management and either 3,000 hours of relevant experience or 6,000 hours of experience in a related field. Although the application will be processed through Iowa Western, the course will be taught at Griswold.
