(Guthrie Co) One person suffered injuries following a chase and a crash in Guthrie County Saturday evening.
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Hilario Ramos was driving a 2014 Nissan Rogue southbound on South 1st Street at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, attempting to elude another vehicle. Ramos lost traction as South 1st Street curved back to the east at a private entrance to Concrete Supply. The Rogue began sliding perpendicular to the roadway until the passenger side of the vehicle struck the concrete barrier and a mailbox. The impact of the concrete barrier caused the Rogue to slide 180 degrees around until it came to rest facing east.
Investigation determined that a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 41-year-old Juan Trevino of Coon Rapids, pulled up to the Rogue before reversing, leaving tracks in the snow and accelerated rapidly back to the north.
Deputies spoke with Trevino at his residence and he admitted to chasing Hilario and seeing the Rogue strike the concrete barrier. Trevino also admitted he exited his vehicle and saw Hilario appeared to be unconscious before getting back in his truck and leaving the scene. He did not contact law enforcement at any time to report the incident.
Ramos was transported to Iowa Methodist Hospital by Panora EMS with suspected serious injuries.
