(Missouri Valley) – After a record-breaking 15 snowplows were struck on Wednesday, another crash occurred in western Iowa on Saturday, according to (KCCI).
The Iowa State Patrol says no injuries were reported in the latest incident. This marks the 26th time a vehicle has collided with a snowplow during this winter season.
Last week, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) issued a news release highlighting the unprecedented number of snowplow strikes on February 12. The previous single-day record was nine in 2024. Before this week’s storms, the total number of snowplow collisions for the 2025 winter season also stood at nine.
According to the DOT’s winter operations team, the February 12 incidents were evenly split between rear-end collisions and sideswipes. These crashes occurred throughout Iowa, particularly in the northeast, southeast, and southwest regions of the state. While most took place on interstates and multi-lane U.S. and state highways, seven were reported along the I-80 corridor.
Despite prolonged snowfall, the majority of these collisions happened during daylight hours. Although all incidents resulted in equipment damage, the extent of the damage has yet to be determined.
