(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett welcomed back Atlantic Police Officer Christian Holzapfel to the Force on Wednesday. Officer Holzapfel joined the Atlantic Police Reserves in 2013, was hired full-time in August 2016, and stayed with the department until 2024. After a brief stint away, Officer Holzapfel rejoined the APD in January 2025. Officer Holzapfel is a married Atlantic High School graduate with two children. He attended the 274th introductory academy class at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. In his spare time, Christian enjoys playing golf, working out, spending time with family, and he is an assistant baseball coach for AHSTW during the summer.
