Patricia Gregg, 81, of Oakland
Funeral services for Pat Gregg will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson. Visitation with family present will begin one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson is caring for Pat and her family.

Patricia (Pat) Elaine Gregg went to be with Jesus on Monday, February 3rd, 2025. She passed away peacefully at age 81 while residing at Oakland Manor in Oakland, IA. Pat was born to Leonard & Wilma (Asbury) Sturtz on March 24, 1943, at their home near Elmo, MO.
Pat graduated from Tarkio High School in 1961 where she was Senior Class Reporter and an honor student. She loved to write and was a member of the Creative Writing Group of the Atchison Arts Association. Pat started her career as a Bookkeeper at Virgil Flake’s Radio & TV Service and later went on to work at a popcorn company called Manley’s Inc. before her family eventually relocated to Oakland, IA.
While living in Oakland, Pat worked at a law firm for Attorneys Keith Burgett & John Leed. She served as the Worthy Matron of Oakland Chapter 435, Order of the Eastern Star at the Masonic Temple and later as the Secretary & Treasurer of the Past Matrons Club. Pat worked as Registrar at Creighton University in Omaha, NE until she eventually retired due to an injury. While working at Creighton, she earned five Bachelor of Science degrees- Business, Taxes, Literature, Writing & Publishing, and Finances. She also completed a degree in Arts @ Iowa Western Community College.
Pat met the love of her life, Marvin Gregg, and they blended their families when they married on February 15, 2003, in Macedonia, IA. Pat & Marvin made their home together in Oakland and were blessed to have nearly 22 years together. Their unwavering devotion to each other served as a loving example for us all.
Pat was a long-time member of Macedonia Assembly of God Church where she & Marvin attended services & bible study regularly. Pat had a passion for writing poetry and her work was published in Who’s Who in American Poetry multiple times. The poems that she composed as gifts for her loved ones to honor special moments in their lives will be cherished keepsakes. Pat loved spending time with her children and their families.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Gregg; daughter, Gina (Paul) Huber of Aberdeen, SD; sons, Brett Ballinger of Toledo, IA & Wesley (Tiffany) Ballinger of Sugarland, TX, ; and daughters, Michele (Pete) Scheldt of Apple Valley, MN & Marci (Stacey) Gregg of Tucson, AZ; 9 grandchildren: Samantha (Eugene) Mitchell, Alex Huber, Logan (Sinead) Ballinger, Laney (Nick)Tull , Mackenzie Scheldt, Corey Nevenhoven, Amber (Dominick) Gregory, Marilee Gregg & Rayana Gregg; She was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren: Kinley & Nora Mitchell, Spencer Tull and Karihanna, Kimbella, Dominick Gregory Jr. and Kallie Victory & Kason Heatherly.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma & Woodrow Marrs; father, Leonard Sturtz; brothers, Darrell & Larry (Helen) Sturtz; grandson, Lukas Huber; son, Michael Gregg & daughter, Marilee Gregg.
